Karen D. Talmadge, Ph.D., Director
Dr. Talmadge is Chief Science Officer and Executive Vice-President of Kyphon, a publicly traded spine medical device company.  She co-founded Kyphon and has served  on its board of directors since its inception. From January 1994 to November 1998, Dr. Talmadge served as Kyphon's  President, Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer.  She brings great leadership and experience to Cartilix to guide us through the opportunities ahead.

Fred Dotzler, Director
Mr. Dotzler is a Managing Director of De Novo Ventures. Prior to co-founding De Novo, Mr. Dotzler was a General Partner at Medicus Venture Partners, a venture capital firm he founded in 1989.  Prior to Medicus, he was a General Partner of Crosspoint Venture Partners.   Among investments he has made during his career in venture capital are the following: medical device – Advanced Surgical Intervention, Biosite, Microvention, Senorx and Vitaphore; biopharmaceutical – Anergen, Applied Molecular Evolution,  Bayhill, Favrille, Point Biomedical, Renovis, and Tularik; drug delivery – Anesta, Nektar; healthcare information – Informed Medical Communications, Omnicell.

Previously he held management positions in sales, marketing, acquisitions, and manufacturing with Millipore Corporation, Merrimack Laboratories, G.D. Searle & Co., and IBM.  Mr. Dotzler received a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University, an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago, and an advanced degree in Economics from the University of Louvain, Belgium.  He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Bayhill Therapeutics, Cartilix, Senorx, Talima, and Point Biomedical.
